Synopsis: Based on the story of one of the youngest serial killers in history, this story follows the murders of ten year old Mary Bell, the trial after them, and the story of "grown up" Mary Bell. Academy Award Nominee Mike Leigh (Vera Drake) directs this dark, brooding, and yet innocent bio-pic of Mary Bell. What made Mary the way she was? Was she found guilty? How did her parents react to this? How did the victims parents react to this? All these questions and more, are answered in this gut-wretching story of Mary Bell.

What the press would say:

"What happens if you choke someone? Do they die?". This perfectly sums up what kind of person Mary Bell was, a girl who just didn't know better. The story is one I have never heard, but one that will begin to be told generation by generation. Mike Leigh beautifully directs this horrific film, which will be discussed in film classes for ages. The cast is amazing, every actor doing the best to their ability to completely flesh out the characters in which they are given. Natalie Portman does an amazing job portraying both carelessness, guilt, and paranoia. Samantha Mahurin gives one of the greatest child preformances in recent years. And Helena Bonham Carter portrays Mary's mother with incredible sympathy, and tragedy. An incredibly layered film that will definitely be remembered for Oscar season, this is sure to be the most celebrated film of the year. A+.
