After she catches him she immediately goes to her doctor Frank Jones for an A.I.D.S test. After a couple of days, she gets a call from her doctor and he asks her to come in. Then she gets the news that changes everything that she believes in. After she gets the news that the virus is spreading fast and she only has less than a year to live. What the press would say:

One of the most heartfelt movies in the past decade. A movie about the will to live and how hope can keep you alive. A brilliant comeback for Academy Award nominated director Peter Weir after commercial and critical success with Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. He brings the actors emotions to life from his screenplay with scenes as brilliant as anything seen in the past. The brilliant makeup work done by Academy Award nominated Yolanda Toussieng transforms Cate Blanchett and Aaron Eckhart into victims of A.I.D.S similar to the work done in Philadelphia. Cate Blanchett is brilliant in this performance as a mother betrayed by the love of her life played by Aaron Eckhart who is amazing as the confused Ben Johnson who loses everything he loves at the end. Cate brings the movie to another plateau with her performance which has not been seen in a long time. You feel her sadness through the cinema. One of the greatest actresses of all times Meryl Streep brings another performance for the ages as the grieving mother trying to spend as much time with her daughter before it is too late. She should gain her 14th nomination. The performer who could be a lock for the award is Abigail Breslin because she really dedicates herself into this performance as a mute. Peter Weir brought in a professional to teach her and Cate Blanchett to learn everything correctly. With proof in the past about characters that have disabilities having the best chance for winning an award, look for Cate and Abigail on stage. Robin Williams is great also in his supporting role as the doctor doing everything he can. A nomination is less than likely but his performance is something that you can not ignore. The Score of John Williams is a plus and he brings the scenes to life through his music. Overall this movie is fantastic and the perfect movie to bring even more awareness of a disease that has hurt us all in the past 25+ years.
